Brazil
Patent Annuities
Effective from 2025-08-07, the official fees for patent annuities are as follows:

Laos
EP Validations
EP Validation in Laos became available following the entry into force of the validation agreement with the EPO on 2025-04-01.
Filing Deadline:
Within three (3) months from the publication date of the grant of the European patent.
Power of Attorney:
A specific or general Power of Attorney (POA) is required and must be simply signed or sealed.
→ No notarization or legalization is required.
→ A scanned copy of the signed POA is sufficient.
Translation Requirements:
Claims: Must be submitted in both English and Laotian.
Description, Title, and Drawings: English is accepted.
Official Fees:
The official fee for publication and grant is USD 87.
Grace Period:
A three-month grace period is available for submitting the Laotian translation of the claims and for payment of the publication fee. However, a 100% surcharge applies to the publication fee if paid during this extended period.
Norway
EP Validations
Power of Attorney is no longer required for EP Validations in Norway with Bryn Aarflot
Pursuant to the agreement between Bryn Aarflot AS and the Norwegian Industrial Property Office (NIPO), no power of attorney is required when validating a European patent through Bryn Aarflot.
Please note, however, that if you choose to engage a different representative in Norway, submission of a power of attorney confirming the representative’s authority may still be necessary.
Portugal
EP Validations – Patent Annuities
Effective from 2025-07-01, the official fees for a European patent validation will slightly increase from EUR 61.51 to EUR 62.83 in case of e-filing and from EUR 123.02 to EUR 125.66 in case of paper filing.
Concerning the patent annuities, the new official fees are as follows:
